Apple TV 4K 2022 vs. 2026: What's new and is it worth the $100 jump?

This article compares the new 2026 Apple TV 4K model with the 2022 version, highlighting the key features and price differences.
What happened
Apple released the 2026 Apple TV 4K with a $100 price increase, featuring a faster A19 chip, AV1 decoding, and built-in mics for hands-free Siri. The 2022 model will receive a Siri AI update, and the new remote is compatible with older devices.
Why it matters
For users who frequently use Siri AI or play games on Apple TV, the upgraded hardware may offer noticeable benefits. However, for casual users, the price increase may not justify the improvements.
- The 2026 Apple TV 4K offers improved hardware but at a significant price increase.
- Siri AI is now available on all Apple TV 4K models from the second-gen onward.
- The new remote provides convenience features like Precision Finding, but requires compatible devices.
The bigger picture
The price hike and incremental upgrades may affect consumer decisions, especially for those considering an upgrade from older models. The inclusion of AV1 decoding and improved connectivity could benefit users with high-bandwidth streaming needs.
The 2026 Apple TV 4K brings hardware upgrades and new features, but the value of the $100 price jump depends on individual usage patterns and needs.
